Clairefontaine supports Unicef

thumb_site-unicef-321.jpgUNICEF was founded in 1946 upon the initiative of the United Nations General Assembly and strives to provide assistance to children of any race, religion, nationality or political opinion.

Today, UNICEF focuses on 4 main areas: health, nutrition, water and education. Since 1946, great progress has been accomplished by UNICEF but there is still a lot to do. For example, almost 1 billion people are illiterate. This figure is unacceptable, as without education, a child has no future. This is why UNICEF and Clairefontaine have together created a range of notebooks.

One of Clairefontaine’s priorities since 1950 has been to provide the best tools for child education by producing a range of high quality notebooks for perfect schooling.

Unfortunately, over 120,000,000 children worldwide are currently illiterate and have never been fortunate enough to go to school. This figure is unacceptable as a child without culture and education has no future.

Clairefontaine decided to support UNICEF so that it could make a concrete contribution to schooling projects for disadvantaged children.

Since January 2004 Clairefontaine has therefore donated € 673,000 a year to UNICEF for the construction of schools, the training of teachers and the supply of school materials.
